I do not see anything wrong with making door-to-door salesmen obtain a permit from the city to visit houses. I feel the same way when promoting religon rather than a sales item. I have not come across one individual that enjoy's being visited by unexpected people promoting religion nor items for sale. This is an invasion of privacy. The law passed in Ohio was created to reduce crime by people protending to be salesmen and entering the house when the person would open the door.

I think very few if any Jehovah's Witnesses would fail to qualify for the permit to continue with their work, and feel that they appealed this law on the sole reason that they are lazy and wernt even thinking of the idea of reducing crime. On that note, I feel that the Supreme Court ruling to disregard this law in Ohio was wrong, and that every State should have the option to make people get permits to go door-to-door.

  • That is a very good point that Jeohova witness can go door to door. It was also good how you brought the relevance of safety to front of the issue and not so much salesmen.

  • I never thought of the situation you mentioned where someone could just be pretending to be a Jehovah's Witness and actually have bad intentions. Great insight!
