The death penalty is a very controversial issue that is debated throughout the Unites States. I personally feel that the death penalty should be abolished throughout the United States, and the issue in Arkansas just proves how inhuman the death penalty can be. Allowing a psychological challenged man face trial for execution as long has he took his meds is inhuman. There are many questions that could be asked here. Was the person on his meds when he committed the crime? Probably not. Putting the person on meds and making him face trial is just a way for the people in Arkansas to clear their conscious.

There are many alternatives to the death penalty. For example, life in prison without any chance of parole. This is a very sensible punishment for major crimes, and it also saves money compared to the death penalty. According to www.deathpenaltyinfo.org, a credible site for death penalty statistics, claims it cost 48% more to sentence a person to death than keeping them for life in prison. The death penalty should be abolished through the United States.

  • So you think is harsh when a person is going to be executed. Put yourself in the shoes of the victims family. Can you imagine one of your family member being murdered, I think if a person did something horrible to a family member you would want them dead. I know I would (look what Scott Peterson did to his wife).
